On September 20, AFR Philly partnered with the Philadelphia Office of Emergency Management to host a Continuity of Operations Planning Workshop at the Academy of Natural Sciences of Drexel University. This free workshop offered by OEM was a follow up to the successful EPOCH conference on September 11.
Lively discussion went hand-in-hand with learning how to identify local hazards, develop a continuity plan, create an evacuation plan and successfully communicate your plan to employees. Lynn Fisher and Emma Giardina from OEM were able to provide a lot of information about how OEM can assist museums and cultural heritage organizations before, during and after a disaster. Attendees went home with the OEM toolkit, a very cool flash drive with the presentation preloaded, and a ReadyPhiladelphia notepad and pen!
Lynn and Emma also encouraged attendees to contact them with any questions and to follow OEM on Twitter @PhilaOEM, and reminded everyone that they can sign up to receive ReadyPhiladelphia alerts by texting READYPHILA to 888-777.
AFR Philly and the OEM are looking forward to continuing to partner in the future. We both have a lot to learn from each other, and there exist many possibilities for future collaboration!
